Weeks after his resignation from the CFPB, Cordray is pursuing the governor’s seat in his home state.
After months of speculation, former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray announced his candidacy for governor of Ohio Dec. 5, Cleveland.com reports.
“I’m getting into this race, and I'll take on all comers at whatever stage,” Cordray said at a news conference in his hometown of Grove City, Ohio, according to the article. Cordray faces five opponents in the primary for the Democratic nomination. He previously served as treasurer and attorney general in Ohio before being appointed to director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau by President Barack Obama.
