U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said one of her top priorities as chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee will be “undoing the damage” to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau created by former acting director Mick Mulvaney, The Hill reports.
“I’ve been focused on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,” Waters said in an interview with MSNBC. “That was the center piece of the Dodd/Frank reform. And Mulvaney who was sent over temporarily by the president to oversee it after the guy who headed it left to run for governor. And he’s tried to dismantle the consumer financial protection bureau.”
Waters also recently said she would call on Mulvaney to testify about his work with the CFPB, ACA International previously reported.
