3/29/2019 11:30 AM
The highly-anticipated debt collection proposed rule is imminent according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s fall 2018 unified agenda and latest semiannual report issued in February. To help ACA International members prepare and understand the proposed Fair Debt Collection Practices Act rules, leadership staff will present a seminar complimentary for members April 11, 2019.
The proposed Fair Debt Collection Practices Act rules are expected to be the biggest thing to impact the accounts receivable management industry since Congress enacted the FDCPA over 40 years ago.
As ACA International continues to prepare for the proposed rule, it’s clear based on the CFPB’s recent annual report to Congress on the FDCPA that the rule’s release is a matter of when, not if. Listen to commentary on the pending rule from ACA International experts on ACA Cast. ACA continues to advocate for clarity when it comes to addressing gray areas that have emerged over the years due to advancing technology and other issues.
With that, ACA International is offering members an exclusive opportunity to join CEO Mark Neeb, Vice President and Senior Counsel Karen Scheibe Eliason and Vice President and Senior Counsel of Federal Advocacy Leah Dempsey for an in-depth discussion to learn about what’s happened and what’s next with respect to the CFPB’s debt collection rulemaking process. Since new debt collection rules will dramatically alter the debt collection landscape and affect many aspects of the collection process, it is essential for every business in the accounts receivable management industry to know what to expect and how to plan and prepare for it.
In our can’t-miss members-only teleseminar, Neeb, Dempsey and Scheibe Eliason will provide insight and perspective into:
- ACA’s past and present advocacy efforts and initiatives related to a proposed debt collection rule.
- ACA’s future advocacy plans and how ACA is preparing to help members comply after the CFPB issues a proposed new debt collection rule.
- ACA’s predictions about the approach the CFPB may take in a proposed debt collection rule.
- The process and likely timing of a proposed and final new debt collection rule.
