Spring and Collectors Challenge are just around the corner. April 1 is the official Collectors Challenge kickoff, so now is the perfect time to start planning how you and your company are going to get involved.
Collectors Challenge is a campaign to help support the ACA International Education Foundation’s (ACAEF) Loomer-Mortenson scholarship program. Member companies are encouraged to coordinate fun and exciting company fundraising activities to contribute donations at any level. It is a great opportunity to foster camaraderie among your team, encourage association involvement and help members of the collection community further their education all at the same time.
Your participation in Collectors Challenge will help an industry employee or dependent offset the cost of higher education as the foundation awards more than $50,000 annually. Learn more about this year’s program on the Loomer-Mortenson webpage.
Get your company involved by getting creative and planning fundraising activities such as games, contests, virtual events and more. For some ideas, here’s a look at what other companies did in 2020:
- American Profit Recovery in Farmington Hills, Michigan, held a 50/50 raffle allowing employees to buy or participate in challenges to earn raffle tickets. Half of the proceeds from the raffle was donated to the ACAEF for Collectors Challenge, and the other half was awarded to the winning employee, who decided to donate their winnings to the cause as well.
- Gulf Coast Collection Bureau Inc. in Sarasota, Florida, held a virtual happy hour for its team, and the company provided a donation to the ACAEF.
- Helvey and Associates Inc. in Warsaw, Indiana, organized an auction for prizes such as extra breaks during the workday, YMCA passes and other fun items. The company also hosted a “tourist dress down day” (think Mickey Mouse ears from Disney World) and a “Helvey’s Got Talent” contest for employees to showcase their performance skills.
- Last year, ACA hosted a Virtual Walk/Run/Bike-A-Thon. Employees pledged how much per mile they would walk/run/bike during the Collectors Challenge and donated the total to the Education Foundation.
For even more ideas and additional resources to help your company plan a Collectors Challenge fundraiser, see the online toolkit before the official kickoff on April 1, 2021 as well as coverage of last year’s activities here.
Thanks to ACA member companies, we anticipate that Collectors Challenge will continue to be a successful program in 2021. We are looking forward to another great year of fundraising for these ACAEF scholarships!
