The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has added to its resources on the debt collection rule by issuing an updated small entity compliance guide with information on part two of Regulation F (Reg F) released in December 2020.
The guide includes a detailed summary of the final rule’s substantive prohibitions and requirements, including those generally restated from the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
The latest updates include discussion of part two of Reg F, which focuses on model validation notices and disclosures.
The guide also provides a summary that highlights Reg F’s key interpretations and clarifications of the FDCPA. Users of this guide should review the October 2020 final rule and the December 2020 final rule as well as this guide.
These resources, available here on the CFPB’s website, may serve as an added guide for ACA International members catching up on the ACA Huddle CFPB Rule Series part one and two. ACA Huddle recordings, presentations and news articles on Reg F are available on ACA’s CFPB Reg F Resource Center.
The CFPB recently proposed to delay the effective date of Reg F from Nov. 30, 2021, to Jan. 29, 2022, and is accepting comments on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking through May 19. Learn more and file comments here.
