Share your voice and guidance with the CFPB as part of its advisory groups focused on emerging trends and practices in the consumer financial marketplace.

CFPB Seeks Applicants for Advisory Boards and Councils

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is accepting applications for membership in all of its advisory groups, providing the opportunity for representatives of small financial institutions to provide guidance to the bureau as it carries out its work.

The CFPB established the Consumer Advisory Board, Community Bank Advisory Council and Credit Union Advisory Council to ensure that it hears from a variety of experts with diverse viewpoints, according to a news release.

These advisory groups provide the CFPB with information about emerging trends and practices in the consumer financial marketplace, it reports.

The CFPB seeks the following applicants:

  • Experts in consumer protection, community development, consumer finance, fair lending and civil rights.
  • Experts in consumer financial products or services.
  • Representatives of banks that primarily serve underserved communities.
  • Representatives of communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgage loans.
  • Current employees of credit unions and community banks.
  • Academics (experts in consumer finance markets and underserved populations)

The CFPB has 10 seats on the Consumer Advisory Board, 15 seats on the Community Bank Advisory Council and 12 seats on the Credit Union Advisory Council that will become vacant in the fall of 2018. Only complete application packets received on or before April 23, 2018, will be given consideration for membership on the board and councils.
