The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau added to its resources on the debt collection rule by issuing a small entity compliance guide focused on part one, which was released in October 2020.
The guide includes a detailed summary of the October 2020 final rule’s substantive prohibitions and requirements, including those that generally restate the FDCPA’s prohibitions and requirements. Section 2 provides a summary that highlights the October 2020 Final Rule’s key interpretations and clarifications of the FDCPA. Users of this guide should review the October 2020 final rule and the December 2020 final rule as well as this guide.
These resources, available here on the CFPB’s website, may serve as an added guide for ACA International members catching up on the ACA Huddle CFPB Rule Series part one and two. ACA Huddle recordings, presentations and news articles on the rule are available on ACA’s website and members can access these resources through a link at the top of the home page, acainternational.org.
