The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Office of Regulations has created an online inquiry form for supervised entities to ask questions about the bureau’s rules, including Reg F.
The office also offers financial institutions, service providers and other informal staff guidance on specific questions about the bureau’s regulations.
It recommends that supervised entities and others access the written implementation and guidance materials—which answer most common questions—before submitting a form.
Responses will generally be available in 10-15 business days; the CFPB will inform the interested party if it will take longer or if the bureau cannot answer the question. Response times and formats will vary depending on the current volume of questions, the amount of time needed to research the question and staff availability. The bureau notes that the responses are not official interpretations and are not a substitute for formal legal counsel or other compliance advice.
Comments on pending rulemakings should be submitted to the public docket. Information on upcoming rulemakings is available in the unified agenda.
