August Education: Learn with Your Peers on Operations, Compliance and ACA International Updates

ACA International’s August education and events calendar is filling up with new Hot Topic webinars and ACA Huddles with subjects including legal updates, compliance, collector development training on credit reporting, as well as an operations webinar, How COVID-19 is Changing the Business Continuity Landscape, sponsored by Agility Recovery.

Collector Development

The August collector development Hot Topic webinar will focus on an interactive discussion on credit reporting.

Answering Those Tough Credit Reporting Questions, at 2 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, Aug. 11., includes speakers Beth Conklin, account executive, State Collection Service Inc., Greg Ruffino, director of training at Williams and Fudge Inc., and Irene Hoheusle, vice president of collections and education, Account Recovery Specialists Inc. They will present real life examples, from the collection floor and reenacted by the industry’s best, of both good and bad responses to those tough credit reporting questions from consumers. 

Operations

Members also have the opportunity to explore operations best practices in a complimentary Hot Topic Webinar, sponsored by Agility Recovery, How COVID-19 is Changing the Business Continuity Landscape.

Steve O’Neal, enterprise relationship manager at Agility Recovery, will lead the webinar at 2 p.m. CDT, Thursday, Aug. 13, and cover topics including business continuity lessons learned from COVID-19, adapting to the evolving business continuity landscape, and increasing business resiliency.

Legal/Compliance

August’s legal and compliance webinar will focus on credit reporting, specifically how to handle credit disputes and make money doing it, at 2 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Dennis Barton III, owner and managing attorney at The Barton Law Group LLC, and Michael Klutho, shareholder at Bassford Remele, will review how achieving  a perfect balance between compliance and operational money-making is the key to running a successful collection agency.

Hot Topic: Grow Through What You Go Through

Learn from presenters Samantha Deines, who holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling and is dedicated to the organizational development spectrum of people’s development, and Kendra Richman, director of organizational development at UnityPoint Health Waterloo, Iowa, for a session on what they have learned in their work with the health care workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The webinar is scheduled for 2 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Hot Topic: Safely Onboarding New Employees in a Pandemic

The global pandemic has required organizations to alter standard business processes rapidly, including new onboarding new employees. Join leaders from State Collection Service in Madison, Wisconsin, at 2 p.m. CDT Thursday, Aug. 20, to learn how they completed required paperwork for new hires, training, and critical employee engagement in a fully remote environment.

COO Tracy Dudek, Director of Patient Engagement Brandi Rudd, and Chief Human Resources Officer Judy Gray will lead this webinar based on their experience having previously onboarded a completely remote team a few years ago.

ACA Corporate Counsel Colin Winkler and Compliance Analysts Andrew Pavlik and Laura Dadd will present Making the Most of Your ACA Membership: All About SearchPoint, at 11 a.m. CDT, Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The ACA Huddle is a complimentary 45-60 minute weekly online ACA members-only informational forum. Members will receive updates on the hottest advocacy and compliance issues of the week. The ACA Huddle may also feature a weekly guest speaker and the opportunity to engage in Q&A with ACA’s staff and the speaker.
