ACA International’s 2022 Convention & Expo is this week and we are beyond excited to come together as an association with members, vendors and expert speakers.
This event has something for everyone, from new professionals in the industry to emerging leaders and seasoned collections experts.
“I know that there are many issues our agency members are facing today,” ACA CEO Scott Purcell said in a recent interview with Mike Gibb at AccountsRecovery.Net.
“We put together some top-notch industry experts for the education pieces, and they’re going to delve into all the issues from operations, the difficulty hiring, onboarding, the hybrid work environment, all the way to the complex issues that we have in our compliance management systems and how that landscape continues to evolve.”
Convention is ACA’s biggest event of the year, bringing together members and accounts receivable management industry professionals who are part of your community. This is the event where you can build new friendships that can last a lifetime.
Here are a few of the opportunities to learn and network you can expect at ACA’s convention:
On the Main Stage
- How to Be an Ally with Keynote Denise Hamilton, Wednesday, July 20. Hamilton will challenge and encourage you to excavate the underlying beliefs that shape your opinions, understand differences, teach tools to resolve conflicts, and become even better at building allies in and out of the workplace.
- The Forefront of Federal & State Advocacy, Thursday, July 21. Advocacy impacts your bottom line, your relationship with your clients and your long-term viability. ACA’s advocacy is one of your top member benefits. In this session, industry advocacy champions will share with you the latest at the state and federal levels.
- 3 Mindful Steps to Break the Stress-Success Cycle with Keynote Dr. Romie Mushtaq, Friday, July 22. Mushtaq’s “3 Mindful Steps” will truly shift your personal and professional lives to help you refocus and step out of the “stress-success” cycle. This keynote goes into the neuropsychology and mental health syndromes affecting cognitive performance and emotional control—then wraps it all up in easy-to-digest and practical takeaways.
Here are a few ways ACA is helping you connect with your fellow members:
- ACA will host a First Timers & New Members Reception and a Young Professionals Reception before the official kickoff of Convention in the Expo Hall, giving you a chance to meet professionals and learn about their background and work in the industry. You can even make plans to attend sessions together.
- The breakout education sessions are another way to discuss industry hot topics with your peers. With more than 25 sessions to choose from, you’ll walk away with a breadth of knowledge to share and implement at your company. Attending the convention sessions gives you six professional development units toward an ACA designation.
- There will be fun activities too, including your chance at ax-throwing with your peers at Stumpy’s Hatchet House to benefit the ACPAC Admin Fund, as well as events for women in collections. Limited tickets are still available for the event benefiting ACPAC’s Administrative Fund. Transportation will be provided.
