New-Jersey based Heritage Financial Recovery Services is helping the community and consumers every day through multiple avenues.
Company president Elizabeth Clifford discussed the firm’s approach to working with clients, consumers and the community in an interview with hosts of RadioVision Network’s CEO Chat Al Cini and Joe Asumendi.
Heritage Financial Recovery Services is an ACA International member company founded in 1961.
In recent years, Heritage has increased its philanthropic work in the community after seeing the impact of Hurricane Sandy on local families. Clifford founded a hurricane relief effort, Turning the Tide, with support from the New Jersey Association of Collection Agencies and collection agencies nationwide to raise money for families.
Turning the Tide helped hurricane victims for whom federal, state or insurance funds are falling through the cracks.
Heritage Financial Recovery Services also helps the community by employing local residents and issuing scholarships to high school students, Clifford said in the interview.
Day-to-day, the company’s agents are helping consumers resolve their accounts.
When asked about the company’s process working with consumers, Clifford said, “everyone who works for me certainly understands what it’s like to have had hard times. We understand that, but avoiding it is not going to make it go away.”
Collection agents can help a consumer identify sources of money to help pay an account balance while developing a reasonable payment plan. Clifford added that communicating with a collector is key to resolving financial issues.
“My best suggestion is for people to deal with it head on,” Clifford said.
