Great ideas are not exclusive to the boardroom! Effective leaders understand that all staffers can contribute worthy thoughts to the “idea box.”

As in all podcasts, Lamm relies on his business expertise to provide insightful information on a variety of topics designed to help listeners improve and develop the workplace environment and culture while building a strong workforce. When discussing strategies for encouraging new ideas, Lamm notes that leaders who fail to actively communicate with staff are in danger of missing out on great ideas and important feedback.
While many staff members are willing to share ideas in a public forum, others may feel more comfortable anonymously submitting their thoughts in an “idea box,” Lamm said. “Depending on personalities and the culture of your office, setting up an idea box may generate more thoughtful responses—especially from lower level staff,” he said. “Trust is an important issue as staff members might be reluctant to speak up and share their thoughts if they think there will be retribution.”
