ACA Cast:

Not only are politics local, they are also a guilty pleasure for many ACA members who serve as the industry’s most trusted advocates in state legislatures and on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. In the latest episode of ACA Cast, “All Politics is Local,” Andy Madden, ACA International’s vice president of state and government affairs, talks with Anita Manghisi, IFCCE, an ACA board member and president of Independent Recovery Resources Inc. in Patchouge, New York, about actively participating in state advocacy efforts.

Beyond a high-level discussion focused on selected legislation under consideration in New York and other states, Manghisi and Madden exchange ideas on the value of engaging with state legislative leadership in this interesting podcast.  Manghisi is recognized throughout the industry and the New York statehouse as an active advocate who understands legislation and the most appropriate approaches to effectively working with elected and government officials. She’s a strong industry voice who consistently leads efforts to educate policymakers about the real-world impact of legislative and regulatory proposals.

As for her peers, Manghisi encourages them to get involved— “you should be the one giving advice and telling stories about the industry,” she states.
