One of the first goals of ACA International’s 1985/86 President Dalton Sheppard Jr. was to establish a scholarship fund in honor of his friends and colleagues, I.D. “Dempsey” Mortenson and Robert E. Loomer.
Holly Norcutt, a junior at the University of Minnesota majoring in elementary education and the daughter of Maxene Norcutt, ACA International’s head bookkeeper, receives the first Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship check from Sheppard Jr. He started the scholarship in honor of Loomer, an active ACA member and instructor, and Mortenson, who worked with ACA. Others benefitting from the scholarship fund in its first year were two Mankato State University students, Robert Gentz, a sophomore in per-business administration and the son of Gary Gentz, who worked in the ACA Data Division; and Bridget Timm, a junior in elementary education and daughter of Karen Timm, assistant bookkeeper. Each scholarship was $250.
