Member Alert: ACA Outlines Concerns in the HEROES Act

ACA International is working to educate Congress, and specifically the U.S. Senate, about the troublesome provisions in the $3 trillion “Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) ACT” that recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives and we need members’ help.

ACA appreciates that Congress considered our concerns about an outright ban on collections and did not include language limiting the ability to make phone calls. However, the HEROES Act proposes several changes that would have significant impact on the accounts receivable management (ARM) industry outlined for members in a summary from our advocacy team.

The Senate is not expected to take up the full package from the U.S. House of Representatives and there will continue to be opportunities for Congress to remove the problematic sections.

ACA’s summary, “ARM Industry Thoughts on the HEROES Act” can be shared with your senator. It is expected that negotiations on the HEROES Act will continue for several weeks and ACA will provide additional information about grassroots as we learn more about any potential Senate packages.

For members interested in learning more about advocacy and action on Capitol Hill in the coming months, register for the Washington Insights Livestream set for June 3.
