Purpose
This special recognition is presented to an ACA member who is no longer active in the collection industry and has made noteworthy achievements in and contributions to the furtherance of the association and the collection industry as defined in the ACA International Policies and Procedures.
Rights and Privileges
Honorary members are recognized with an award in the year in which the honor is bestowed. Honorary members shall not pay dues or assessments. This special category is a lifetime membership. Honorary members need not apply for, be granted nor maintain membership status in any state, regional or international unit. The Honorary member is not a member of any unit, unless a unit elects them to be a member. Honorary members may accept election or appointments to association committees. They shall not serve as members of the Board of Directors nor serve as officers of the association. They shall not be entitled to vote at any meeting of the membership of this association. Honorary members may request a complimentary, single-copy annual subscription to Collector magazine. Honorary members may request one full complimentary Annual Convention registration, which includes all convention meal functions, except for the President’s Banquet.
Qualifications
A candidate for Honorary membership may not be active in the day-to-day operations of any business related to the collection or credit industry. However, they may possess an ownership share of such a business. A person nominated for this category of membership may also, generally, fit one or more of the following qualifications guidelines.
Nominations
The Honorary Membership Committee shall nominate candidates who have met the qualifications of this Special membership category. Thirty days prior to the annual meeting of the Board of Directors, the Honorary Membership Committee shall provide the Board with a list of nominees for Honorary Membership status. The Board of Directors may elect such nominees at its annual meeting upon a two-thirds vote.
