The Federal Communications Commission has published regulations, as provided for by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which limit the use of facsimile machines when sending information for commercial purposes. The regulations provide that all persons and entities sending any facsimile message must include certain identifying information. Further, any party sending an unsolicited fax containing an advertisement must obtain the express written permission of the recipient.
