Itemization of Collection Notices Fastfax #1251

Jul 03, 2012

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), debt collectors are required to include the amount of the debt in the validation notice. This can become difficult when additional costs, fees or interest have been added to the principal balance. Courts addressing this issue seem to present a strong argument for the itemization of collection letters; however, itemization may be problematic if the collector does not have access to the information required to itemize.
