Jay Gonsalves has been a professional in the collection industry for over 25 years. He entered the business with a Boston–based agency in 1983, and acquired ownership of his current firm, Action Collection Agencies, Inc. in Middleboro, MA in 1991. He was also co-founder of ACA Healthcare Management Services in West Bridgewater, MA.
Gonsalves received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts–Dartmouth in 1976 and master of health services administration degree from Salve Regina College in 1985.
Gonsalves has been involved in the association at both the local and national levels for many years. He is a past president of the New England Collectors Association. He was elected to ACA International’s Executive Committee as Treasurer in 2005 and served as President in 2008-09. He is a past chairman of the association’s Healthcare Services Program Committee and Interstate Committee. He holds the ACA International Fellowship of Credit and Collection Executives and Master Credit Executive designations and is an ACA Certified Instructor. In 2008, he was recognized by Collection Advisor magazine as one of the industry’s “Top 50 Most Influential Collection Professionals.” He was awarded the ACA International James K. Erickson Continuous Service Award in 2011.
In 1996 and 2008, Gonsalves was recognized by the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Massachusetts Senate, respectively, for his dedication and contribution to the small business community in Massachusetts, and was honored for his outstanding dedication to the NECA in 1997 with the Robert M. Loomer Award.
In addition to his involvement with ACA, Gonsalves is active in his community. He was a coach and past commissioner of Rochester Youth Baseball for many years, and has served in leadership at First Congregational Church of Rochester, MA, where he resides with Connie, his wife of 30 years, with whom he has three grown children.
