What is MAP?
ACA International (ACA) created the Members' Attorney Program (MAP) to enable attorneys who practice in the credit and collection arena to better represent their ACA member clients through a number of resources designed to assist them in their practices, including up–to–the minute information on legislative and case law developments.
The program is under the direction of ACA Corporate Counsel Valerie Hayes.
How does an attorney enroll in the program?
Simply complete the application and return it to us with payment. Sponsorship by an ACA member is a requirement for membership in MAP. ACA sponsorship of MAP attorneys serves as our industry safeguard against the admission of attorneys to our program who do not align themselves with the needs and goals of our ACA membership. ACA sponsorship is a critical step in the MAP application process. Sponsorship can only be accomplished by a current member of ACA. MAP attorney sponsorship signifies and states the attorney applicant does not represent consumers in claims against third–party collectors, credit grantors, or those substantially engaged in the asset buying industry, the attorney is not primarily engaged in business as a third–party debt collector, and certifying that the attorney represents or provide services to the sponsor.
What is the cost?
MAP is an individual membership and dues are $360 per calendar year. MAP dues are billed directly to the attorney and can be paid either by the attorney or by the sponsoring ACA member. Some members and sponsors choose to share the cost.
MAP is pleased to introduce the multi–attorney dues structure. Dues for the first attorney from a firm remain at $360, however, additional attorneys from the firm (at the same address) will have the option to join at the rate of $180. Renewals of multi–attorney memberships at this rate are contingent upon all membership renewals for the firm being paid with a single check or charge.
