Project Purpose:
To design and implement a program to train low-vision persons and other physically disabled individuals, to become collectors, skip tracers and data entry; check collection and pre-certification assistants, in cooperation with premiere members of the collection industry.
Project Partners:
The STAR Center, the ACA International Education Foundation, The Tennessee Collectors Association and the State of Tennessee’s Department of Rehabilitation.
Project Outline:
Participants are identified by State of Tennessee vocational rehabilitation counselors. Interested clients go to the STAR Center for further screening, where the prospect’s academic skills, personality traits and job interests are assessed. Selected individuals enroll in the Accounts Receivable Specialist Training Program, underwritten by the State of Tennessee.
Benefits:
This exemplary program could be replicated throughout the United States, using a similar partnership format. Also, new employment sources with the potential to provide competent, loyal, long-term employees to the collection industry are of renewed interest.
