How the IU is organized
The Bylaws and Standard Operating Procedures of ACA International provide for an International Unit (IU), which represents collection company (agency) members in more than 60 countries. The IU is divided into six regions with a director for each region:
(1) Africa
(2) Asia/Middle East
(3) Australia/New Zealand (includes the island nations of Oceania)
(4) Canada (formerly in The Americas region)
(5) Europe
(6) Latin America (formerly in The Americas region)
IU members vote by electronic ballot in early summer to elect their region’s representative to the IU Board of Directors. Election results are announced and confirmed at the IU Annual Meeting held in conjunction with ACA International’s Annual Convention & Expo in July. The IU Board of Directors elects officers and these individuals represent the IU to the ACA International Board of Directors. The IU is entitled to four director positions on the ACA Board. IU Directors are limited to only those individuals whose business, or any portion thereof, is related to the collection of third-party debt.
